Saturn Arrives in Aquarius
The energetic landscape lightens as no-nonsense, goal-oriented, control-loving Saturn, the planet that rules time and order and structure, leaves its own sign of earthy Capricorn to spend approximately 2 1/2 years in airy, future-oriented Aquarius, the sign associated with original thinking, humanitarianism, and the freedom to express your own unique and authentic self. In so doing, it offers the possibility of blending the best of the past with hope for the future by combining Saturn’s practicality and determination with Aquarian logic, broad perspective, and innovative ideas.
Although air and water are not inherently compatible, Saturn is comfortable in the sign of the water-bearer. As the last planet visible to the naked eye, Saturn travels the border between the world of here and now and the world of possibility and what could be. Uranus is the modern ruler of Aquarius, but before the invention of the telescope in the 18th century led to the discovery of that planet Saturn ruled both Aquarius and Capricorn. Furthermore, Aquarius is a fixed, “solid” sign, a quality that aligns easily with Saturn’s earthy, deliberate nature.
Much can be accomplished using the energies of this combination. Collaborative efforts and future-oriented thinking (real Aquarian strong suits) blended with Saturn’s goal-oriented focus can result in long-lasting initiatives that make the world a better place in fields like government and big business (Saturn) and technology and humanitarian undertakings (Aquarius.) Personally, we can use these energies to claim the freedom to be ourselves and to move toward the future (Aquarius) using Saturn’s gift of providing the ground rules and discipline for achieving long-lasting success. Knowing where the sign of Aquarius colors the landscape of your own birth chart can give you more insight about the kinds of experiences and opportunities that will be most affected by this passage in your own life over the next 2 ½ years or so.
But patience is needed. Don’t be surprised if things take longer than you might have thought. Aquarius is a fixed sign, not given to constant motion. Saturn is the “Father Time” of the zodiac. It slows the pace, carefully and deliberately measuring the days as they unfold here on Planet Earth. Spontaneity, accelerated action, sudden surprise, and short-cuts are simply not in its repertoire, no matter what sign it is in.
The Aquarian vibe will get a boost when Jupiter joins Saturn in the sign on December 19, 2020.
Eyes straight ahead! Let’s use this energetic combination to help bring in a brave new future.
